Greetings all, this is the new blog I will be using to talk about stuff and ideas related to the Mythica Woodland as there are quite a number of things I will be writing about here. It mostly pertains to ideas and stuff I have been having thoughts on for a while and wondering if much of it can be done on the Sunny Beach sim in Second Life with help from those who will want to provide assistance among other things.
The land area on the Sunny Beach sim is known as the Mythica Woodland. It is a mythical and magical place that is home to a few fairy mice such as Erik Mouse and Lilly Mouse. Even though the woodland is considered a safe haven to them, it is also home to some other various creatures such as a few mythical chipmunks and the foxy children who like to play and wander around in the forest by the great oak tree with other Mythica character creations. The theme is basically a scenic and fantasy based woodland with a waterfall or two flowing into a river in spots. Hidden behind one of the waterfalls is a cave that is currently inhabited by four moogles. There is also a pond there that is considered the local watering hole and has underground hobbit style dwellings around it.
The Mythica Woodland is publicly open to anyone who wishes to come visit and explore around as it has stuff designed to provide entertainment for visitors. Which are things such as fishing stuff by the pond as fishing is now allowed there with contests possibly coming soon, rezzers for boats and sailboats for sailing around the island, and surfboard rezzers for any who want to surf on the big wave along the north end of the sim. There is also a stargate there to hopefully bring in random visitors by stargate.
Even with all that, it has been somewhat difficult at times to attract many visitors to come hang around in the Mythica Woodland and Erik Mouse had decided that new ideas are going to be needed in order to improve it. Being unsure on what needs to be done, he winds up going to some SL Newser meetings in hopes of getting some assistance on any ideas.
This results in him getting the idea at some point of having a gathering area designed in the Mythica Woodland. Since it was a good idea at the time, it went ahead and resulted in the creation of a place called the Surf’s Up Beach Club where anyone can book a party they want to have there.
After the club was built, it didn’t have a party or event there right away since Erik Mouse wasn’t sure how and where to advertise it and needed some help getting the word out about it. In late August of last year, the first party that got booked there was an SL Newser Party on a Saturday to start at Noon SLT (Second Life Time).
Since the event turned out to be very good, a decision got made for the Surf’s Up Beach Club to have an event weekly to hopefully attract new visitors to the Mythica Woodland. It seemed like a good idea at the time as another event got scheduled for the same time on the following Saturday.
Consequently, it was also the beginning of weekly events being scheduled once a week at the Surf’s Up Beach Club that started with the help of Sha with Snowy DJing there for a time.
Everything seemed to be going okay for some weeks, but then there was either a decline in club traffic or something else happened that led to the loss of the DJ. While Erik Mouse was trying to figure out what went wrong, a suggestion was made by either Sha or Snowy at the time to change the club to be more fitting for the surrounding area.
Since it was a good suggestion, Sha had gone ahead and got a large oak tree for a new club design. This led to the creation of what is now known as the Gathering Oak, which is different as it is basically a woodland gathering area rather than a club and has been nicknamed the GO for short.
Even though the weekly events are still being scheduled there, the dancing is now being done outdoors instead of in a building to be more connected with nature. After the changes have been made, there has been some improvement in club traffic for a few weeks until a new DJ was needed as backup to Snowy shortly after she stopped showing up at the Gathering Oak.
Even though Snowy had asked a number of DJs at another club if they could DJ at the Gathering Oak in her place, they declined for some unknown reason after being told who is running it.
Since Erik Mouse didn’t know what to do and was beginning to panic, he went over to see Perri who happens to be a next door neighbor to the Mythica Woodland and started to talk to her about the difficulties he is having in getting a DJ for the Gathering Oak. Being that she is a DJ, she ends up becoming the replacement DJ for the gathering area and it continued on without any difficulties.
A few months later, the gathering area became a member of the FCA or Fur Club Alliance with Perri being the president of it at the time. During one of the meetings of the FCA, it had been suggested to change the weekly event schedule from Noon SLT (Second Life Time) on Saturdays to being at 6PM SLT (Second Life Time) on Mondays instead. This was to better allow for Sha to be able to attend the events due to having trouble getting on Second Life at Noon SLT (Second Life Time). Shortly after this change was agreed upon, the weekly events being scheduled at the Gathering Oak have been switched to being scheduled on Mondays at 6PM SLT (Second Life Time) instead.
It wasn’t until recently that there were some problems going on with the Gathering Oak with events ending up in failure with no attendance. It didn’t get better right away as Erik Mouse ended up being caught in what sounds like a one sided feud going on that led to the Gathering Oak being removed from the FCA due to him not getting much help there. Now thought, it seems the Gathering Oak attendance is seeing some improvement with Geerkil as the DJ with Perri still around as backup just in case, but more will follow if there is anything for you to know about as well as other things to talk about in my next post.
A virtual community place where you can come to and explore, which is currently located on the Sunny Beach homestead sim in Second Life. Even though boating, surfing, and fishing is available there for visitor entertainment, it has a gathering area for events and possible role play to come called the Gathering Oak, or GO for short. The Mythica Woodland can also be found on the Riven sim in InWorldz and will also be covered here as this is for stories and stuff related to either location.
